I have been in the faculty of Computer Science and Engineering in the Indian Institute Of Technology Kharagpur since December 1990. I joined as a Lecturer and soon became an Assistant Professor in 1993. I became an Associate Professor in 1998. Since, 2004 I have been working at the Institute as a Professor.

I completed my Ph.D. dissertation entitled `Weak visibility and related problems on simple polygons’, in the Department of Computer Science and Automation, IISc Bangalore in 1990.

My M. Tech. thesis entitled `A concurrent object oriented programming system’ was done in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur in 1986.

I did my B. Tech. in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur.

During the course of my 3 decade long career, I have been associated with various academic committees and institutions.

I served as the Convenor, for the Advisory Committee for the Centre for Theoretical Studies, I.I.T., Kharagpur from 2004-2008.

I have been a Member of the Executive Council: Indian Association for Research in Computing Science for a few years.

I have also been a Member of the Programme Committee: FST and TCS 2004 Chennai, Member National Advisory Committee: ISCQI 2008, IOP Bhubaneswar, Member Programme Committee: WALCOM 2008, ISI Kolkata, Member of the Programme Committee: WALCOM 2012, Dhaka, Bangladesh, Co-Chairman Organizing Committee: WALCOM 2013, IIT Kharagpur, India, and Co-Chairman Programme Committee: WALCOM 2014, IIT Madras, Chennai, India.

I have been in the Programme Committees for CALDAM 2015, CALDAM 2016, CALDAM 2017, CALDAM 2018, CALDAM 2019 and CALDAM 2020, and was Co-Chairman of the Programme Committee for CALDAM 2019.

I am a member of the Association for Computer Science and Discrete Mathematics (ACSDM) and was earlier a governing body member of ACSDM for a few years.

I worked as Visiting Associate Professor in the Mathematics and Computer Science department in the University of Miami, Coral Gables, Florida, USA during the period, August 1999 to May 2000.

Last but not the least, I am humbled to hold an Erdos number of 2.
